Facebook is a big brand and most of us would say it needs no introduction. However; contrary to our opinion the social networking giant is also choosing to advertise on billboards across big cities. People have been posting and talking about their billboards on the social media platform especially about the ones spotted at highways.
Being world’s largest tech platform boasting two billion users especially in India, which is its largest market with 241 million users it definitely does not needs any introduction.
Regardless of that fact, Facebook still thinks it wise to spend on marketing. Basically, this is in line with Facebook’s increased focus on Community. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said, his company’s new mission statement was “to give people the power to build community and bring the world closer together.”
Facebook wants people to get attached to Groups, Pages and Events. Henceforth, the billboards can be seen in Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
According to a Facebook spokesperson, “Through our campaign ‘Live what you Love’, we are encouraging our community in India to discover the various ways in which Facebook can help them pursue their interests, by connecting them to like-minded people, getting more information, and providing a space where they can explore. The characters and the stories highlighted in the campaign are built around everyday people, who are passionate and constantly looking for ways to become better. Our goal is to build more inspiration and awareness among our users on how to make the best out of the platform for their personal experiences.”
The WPP-owned advertising agency Kinect India is behind the Out-of-Home (OOH) campaign for Facebook. “It is Rs 5-crore campaign for Groups, Pages and Events. We are running billboards in four cities — Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru and Hyderabad — for now. The first set is on Groups”, according to a source from Kinect.
Connecting the world has been their motto but with this new OOH campaign, they are aimed at driving people with similar interests together. It is a strong move to build communities.
