Epson (Seiko Epson Corporation) Japan, is in the process of introducing two new PrecisionCore printheads, named T3200-U3 and two-colour T1600-U3. The new Epson printheads for sigange digital printers, are said to be compatible with UV inks in applications such as signage and are designed to deliver high print quality at high speed. These are the first printheads in the Epson PrecisionCore series to have a built-in heater.
According to the company, these two new printheads will expand Epson’s PrecisionCore printhead offerings to a six series lineup that can offer a diverse range of digital printing environments in which high-quality, high-speed printing can be more easily implemented in printers.
Usually, a pair of two-colour printheads are required to print four colours. The T3200 delivers four-color CMYK from a single printhead. Moreover, one has to engineer a mechanism to determine the spacing between printheads or make adjustments during installation. Whereas, customers can avoid such cumbersome adjustments as Epson’s T3200 print head is fitted with a precision-processed positioning mechanism.
The T3200 and T1600 have an effective print width of 67.2 mm (2.65 inches). The T3200-U3 can fire four-color CMYK printing at high speed from a single printhead. The new print heads can fire at a resolution of 300 dpi / 4 colours and 600 dpi / 2 colours in T3200-U3; and 300 dpi / 2 colours and 600 dpi / 1 colour in T1600-U3.
Moreover, these printheads have a different type of Piezoelectric actuator that enables the ejection of larger ink droplets at higher frequencies. This facilitates faster printing without compromising the high image quality and easy installation. Moreover, the heater makes printing possible even with highly viscous UV ink and can provide an optimal digital printing performance in signage printing etc.
The four-colour T3200 and the two-colour T1600 can be flexibly arranged to enable customers to develop many different types of printers with different numbers of colours and speeds. The T3200 can be equipped with CMYK ink and the T1600 can be equipped with special inks such as white and varnish.
