New wide format printers set their foot into the print industry via the widely acclaimed global platform of FESPA this year. The fresh entries were put on the display where more than 700 exhibitors participated on a floor area spread across 10 exhibition halls.
InkTec’s JETRIX LXi8 LED-UV flatbed printer was put on the anvil for the first time
InkTec introduced the Ground breaking JETRIX LXi8 LED-UV flatbed printer at FESPA this year. DuPont Brings to the Market its New Range of Dye Sublimation Inks
DuPont featured its new dye sublimation inks as part of its broad textile ink portfolio during the Fespa trade show. The recently added DuPont™ Artistri® Xite S1500 dye sublimation ink has a mid-viscose consistency that is perfect for printing on polyester textile substrates. The Xite S2500 offers superior product consistency, jetting reliability and color print performance. DuPont has combined more than 70 years of innovation and expertise in textile fibers with its extensive knowledge of inkjet inks to develop an innovative family of inks for digital textile printing.
DuPont also showcased their range of Artistri® Brite inks for the direct-to-garment (DTG) customers. The Artistri® Brite inks include the next generation of DTG digital ink technology for saturated color and production speed. They are specially designed for DTG decorators and fulfillment houses who want to move to industrial digital printing but need a faster, more reliable process that provides high quality and repeatability.
Eye-catching Graphics & Signage from 3M Grabbed the Limelight
3M has been transforming vehicles, achieving stunning architectural finishes, illuminating signs and even saving energy by controlling room temperature through their graphic films. 3M unveiled the new 3M™ Print Wrap Film IJ180mC with Comply™ Adhesive incorporated with micro technology that delivers optimal initial tack and slide ability for a smoother, faster installation for a range of applications including decorating vehicles and walls.
Eleven new colors in the 3M™ Wrap Film Series 1380 were also unveiled at FESPA including Gloss Navy Metallic Blue, Gloss Sapphire Green Metallic and Matte Black Metallic as well as Gloss Lucid Yellow for emergency fleet applications and Gloss Flame Red for fire department vehicles.
Fujifilm’s B1 Inkjet Makes Its First Appearance
The B1PE7 is a 200sph, 960dpi modular printer manufactured by Inca and uses Onset and Spyder models’ print technology. The device printed photographic images plus samples showing fine text and reversed out text, onto a 0.4mm matt vinyl substrate at the event.
The B1PE7 has eight print channels and prints in CMYK, but Fujifilm will also be talking to potential customers about possible options such as different color sets, ink systems and additional printheads for higher print speeds. It can efficiently print on a wide range of substrates up to 10mm thick, and includes Dibond, wood and corrugated board. Fujifilm especially highlighted the device’s longevity of the multi-pass printing system.

Mimaki Announces World’s First Full-Colour Modeling Machine
Mimaki revealed details about its innovation that is going to hit the market in the coming months at FESPA. Thought the product is still in prototype stage, it is already grabbing a lot of attention. The machine is being called 3DUJ-P for the moment and is being said to be the “world’s first full-color modeling machine” and it boasts of offering up to 10 million colors. Using high-definition modeling based on Mimaki’s advanced UV inkjet technology; it prints at sizes of 500x500x300mm. It can achieve 84% of the Fogra 39L Color gamut and prints using water. In standard mode, the machine can print five “pieces” in around 10 hours, but it also runs in high-definition and high-speed modes.
Kornit Creates Buzz at FESPA with its Avalanche R-Series with Ink Recirculation System
Kornit Digital, one of the global market leaders in digital textile printing technology, launched with pride its new addition; the Avalanche R-Series with ink recirculation system. The series has two configurations; the Avalanche Hexa with six-color-plus white support and the Avalanche 1000 which has been designed for uncompromised speed. This technology optimizes print quality, reliability and ink efficiency as a result of which users of the Avalanche R-Series benefit from up to 20% ink savings and faster system availability after the start-up process.
The Kornit Avalanche Hexa R-Series includes six color channels plus white, and true colors of can be reproduced. The Kornit’s Avalanche 1000 R-Series has been especially designed for the mass production of garments and is a perfect fit for heavy duty use. It has a unique double bridge architecture and can work in extremely high speeds and print up to 220 light and 160 dark garments per hour. The Avalanche 1000 R-Series can be used all day without worrying about it getting heated and also produce huge volumes.
Both systems feature a print area of up to 90 x 60cm and 12cm wide pass printing. An automatic height adjustment mechanism allows printing over buttons, zippers and other protruding objects.
RICOH’s Dynamic Direct to Garment (DTG) Printers Impress at FESPA
With an aim to give its customers the opportunity to be more flexible, RICOH launched two new Direct to Garment (DTG) printers; RICOH Ri 3000 and Ri 6000 at FESPA 2017. With the new launches, customers will now be able to experience this new DTG technology.

Mutoh America Inc. Unveils its New UV-LED Flatbed Printer – Valuejet 626UF Tabletop

AGFA’s New Jeti Tauro H2500 LED Creates a Stir
Agfa Graphics displayed at FESPA its new wide-format UV-inkjet printer, the Jeti Tauro H2500 LED. It is a 2.5m wide hybrid UV inkjet printer and is integrated with a roll-to-roll system and has the feature of continuous as well as automated feeding of a wide range of flexible and rigid media. The Jeti Tauro relies on the LED-curing technology as an alternative for the high energy consuming mercury bulb lamps. The printers equipped with UV LED lamps come with a number of economical and ecological benefits as well. As LEDs have minimal heat output, they ensure very stable bi-directional calibration. For higher systems there is no warming up or cooling down time which contributes a lot in significant power savings. In total, all the features have a positive effect on the ROI of the system.
