The 13th edition of In-Store Asia, part of EuroShop Family of Events was organised at the Jio World Convention Centre (JWCC) in Mumbai from 29 June to 1 July 2022. The event brought together industry stakeholders and highlighted cutting-edge ideas in the Indian retail segment.
The three-day event included the Expo and the Convention and culminated with the VM&RD Retail Design Awards seeing the convergence of senior decision-makers from the retail eco-system, including brands, retail consultants, retail service and solution providers, store designers, architects and VM professionals.
The 13th edition of In-Store Asia came at a time when the Indian retail business is bouncing back after a long and challenging period of pandemic-induced lockdowns and uncertainties. In keeping with this, art, technology and emotions converge to reboot the retail experience at In-Store Asia Convention. If there was one unmistakable takeaway from the various sessions held as part of the In-Store Asia Convention 2022, then it was that human experience and expression are still at the core of retail evolution. However, this entails the intersection of art, technology and people like never before.
As Thomas Schlitt, Managing Director, Messe Düsseldorf India Pvt Ltd, says, “In-Store Asia is a melting pot of the latest ideas and developments in retail and its focus is on important domains like tech innovations, shopper marketing, future predictions, VM, retail experience design, sustainability and store design. The Expo, Convention, VM Challenge and VM & RD Awards reflect all of these. The vision behind In-Store Asia has always been to bring the Indian retail industry together under a common theme. In particular, in these post Pandemic times, In-Store Asia has even more importance as the leading industry platform to leverage the collective expertise of all stakeholders in the retail ecosystem in order take on the new challenges in the market.”
Highlights of the Expo included the Tech Village Pavilion showcasing the latest in retail technology as well as the Designer Lounge in partnership with IIID, which displayed the latest materials used by the design community in stores.
A popular attraction at In-Store Asia has always been the VM Challenge and this year was no exception. While the broad format of VM Challenge remains unchanged, it has been tweaked slightly this year with additional levels of evaluation and added flavour.
The VM&RD Retail Design Awards 2022, which received more than 170 entries across 22 categories also included the felicitation of the winners of VM&RD Awards 2020, which were presented virtually in 2020 in the wake of the Pandemic.
The 14th edition of In-Store Asia will take place from 11 to 13 May 2023 in Mumbai.
