Recently, the Goa government has announced that there will be a special policy enforcing uniform outdoor signage. The Heritage Committee of State Town and Country Planning (TCP) Board which met has decided to come up with a comprehensive policy on the issue of uniformity in signage within coming weeks.
According to the State TCP minister Vijai Sardesai, the existing hoardings placed across the landscape of the state look like a blot which needs to be replaced with uniform signage. The suggestion on the same has already been submitted by the Heritage Committee of TCP which would be taken into consideration while forming a policy.
After the meeting and discussion, it would be referred to the Indian Institute of Architects and other stakeholders. Furthermore, the models adopted by other states while deciding the signage will also are considered before finalising Goa policy.
Chief Architect of the State Public Works Department has submitted certain guidelines for conservation areas. Also, special guidelines will be given for areas covering all over Goa.
