Hoardings and banners of political parties across Gautam Budh Nagar district were brought down after a recent announcement from the Election Commission that all political posters are to be removed with immediate effect.
Chief executive officer (CEO), of the twin cities’ authorities, Deepak Agarwal, directed officials to ensure that the orders were followed upon. He also issued a statement saying that strict actions would be taken according to the norms of the EC if any political party is found putting up illegal posters.
Speaking to TOI, Agarwal said that removal of banners, posters and hoardings has been initiated with immediate effect. “Several teams have been deployed to rid the district of political graffiti, posters and banners,” he said. “All banners and hoardings which violate the provisions of the model code, which came into force after the announcement of the election, will be removed,” he warned.
