Tata Elexi, a well-known design and technology company has been given the responsibility of transforming a total of 10 airports including Pune. The step has been taken keeping in mind the current signage at the airports which are not up to the mark. With the new signage, airports aim at them being more passengers friendly and make sure that they don’t have any problem in locating places in the airport.
Tata Elexi is not new in designing signage for airports in fact; it has the experience of designing the state-of-the-art T2 terminal of Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport. The airports’ entertainment zones, customer service zones, general and lifestyle seating areas, pay phones, charging stations, ATM vending machine housing internet workstations, kiosks have been designed by them.
“The project aims at improving the information signage system at airports
and the design contract for the same has been given to the Bengaluru headquartered company. The company will look into all aspects, such as the
current signage system, the system which will be the most appropriate for Pune, the places where they can be set up, the font size of the same etc. Stress will on ensuring that they are modern, clearly visible and of international standard,” an AAI official from Delhi told TOI.
