Perth based Discus Print and Signage and fellow WA operator Signhere Signs are going to be the first Australian printers to get an HP Rigid Latex R2000 press. The printer has been installed after initial trials in Sydney.
The many advantageous features of the printer such as the use of water-based ink, which raises the 2.5m wide printer’s environmental credentials and makes recycling certain substrates easier as well as the quality of the printed product, prompted the two companies to make the purchase.
According to the owner of Discus Print and Signage, the purchase is the result of trying to be at the top with the latest technology. Significant characteristics like speed, quality, white ink and substrate adherence of HP R2000 is superb. The latest installation will complement the other presses which are already present at Discus, which claims to be the largest digital printer in the city of Perth.
Whereas, according to the owner of Signhere Signs, this is the first time they have got a flat bed printer. Also, the choice was driven by the factor that they wanted a machine that would meet the environmental objectives.
The R2000 enables rigid substrates of up to 5cm thick to be printed on and the result can be matched with produce coming off the roll to roll machines. Additionally, the machine is able to print across different substrates with no change in print quality which certainly acts as a big bonus.
