NHS Blood and Transplant in collaboration with 23Red Advertising Agency designed one-of-a-kind campaign to create awareness among people about the power blood donation holds in saving lives. The campaign also aimed at motivating people to donate blood. Through a augmented reality app, a virtual blood donation scenario was depicted wherein an empty blood bag attached to an ill patient gradually filled up whenever a participant logged into the app via an iphone. The image was displayed on a large digital format screen; a visual recognition app detected a sticker on the donor’s hand and an image of needle, plaster and a tube connected to the empty bag would appear. One can see blood flowing through the tube and the sick patient returning to health. The visuals delivered the message of importance of blood donation with great impetus as one could witness the patient gaining health because of his decision to donate blood, firsthand.
